Context
During the AFS Youth Assembly, BacharLorai hosted its second Impact Social at Bonnie Vee in NYC, gathering non-profit leaders, community advocates, and social impact professionals. The event focused on fostering connections across diaspora communities, sharing insights, and mobilizing for meaningful change.
Tahmid and Farhim opened the evening by outlining BacharLorai’s commitment to a global perspective, emphasizing Impact Socials as hubs for networking, collaboration, and social action. Noshinn from Bengalis of New York spoke next, stressing the importance of amplifying Bangladeshi voices worldwide and building stronger diaspora networks.
Mehmet from the Journalists and Writers Foundation highlighted BacharLorai’s role in UN advocacy, inviting all to their SDGs conference, while Cynthia Saxena from Adhikar, speaking on Nepali worker rights, emphasized on uniting South Asian communities in NYC around social justice. Ifti from Royal Bengal Tea House followed, sharing how his collective uses art to bridge immigrant communities and foster civic engagement.
The event also featured Lameesa Reza of TINDS, who spotlighted their media platform’s commitment to promoting South Asian businesses and stories, and musician Joy Biswas, who concluded the evening with a performance of traditional Bangladeshi songs, bringing attendees together in celebration.
We thank Bonnie Vee for hosting and TINDS for promoting the event, underscoring how public, private, and non-profit sectors can join forces to create positive impact.
